Darryl Pickett - Story and Show Writing
Darryl Pickett is a former Walt Disney Imagineer and current consultant to the Central Florida theme park industry. He specializes in creative, content-rich stories and personality-driven concepts for attractions, shows and media.
With a lifetime of involvement in theater, music and writing, Darryl has a wide-ranging curiosity and an eclectic sensibility. He is a working actor and voiceover artist, a songwriter and singer, and the author of numerous plays. From 1996 through 2001, he was a show writer for Walt Disney Imagineering. He continues to consult with that company on a project basis.
Darryl has written material for attractions in all of the parks at Walt Disney World, including Epcot, Disney's Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom. He has provided show scripts and song lyrics for entertainment aboard the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream cruise ships, and recently provided interactive dialogue and media content for a host of beloved Disney characters in the XBox 360 exclusive game Kinect Disneyland Adventures. He tells the story of these adventures in What Is Show Writing?
His efforts in the industry have served numerous other clients, including Sea World, Kodak, Dollywood, The Atlanta Aquarium, Microsoft Studios, and many more.
Every project is an opportunity to engage people in a story, to create moments of laughter, wonder and enrichment. Fine storytelling casts its spell in any medium, from campfire stories to the newest digital frontiers.
